World Environment Day (WED) is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global  day for positive environmental action. WED activities take place all year round  but climax on 5 June every year,  involving everyone from everywhere.

Through WED, the UN Environment Programme is able to personalize  environmental issues and enable everyone to realize not only their  responsibility, but also their power to become agents for change in support of  sustainable and equitable development.

Personalize YOUR environmental issue by RECYCLING CLOTHING! Yes, you knew that we were going to somehow get commercial on this :-). But we’re not reluctant to do it, because we believe in helping our environment and our planet, we are actively involved in efforts on a worldwide basis, and Encore offers a great way to recycle AND get wonderful bargains on great clothing!

Our Unabashed Request for Support!

Yes dear readers and customers it’s time again for the Durham Herald-Sun Reader’s Choice Awards. Pick up an issue of that fine newspaper and fill out the Official Reader’s Choice Voter’s Ballot and mail it in! Support all the fine establishments you frequent here in the Bull City by voting for them! Get those votes in by Friday, May 27!

Encore has been the recipient of this award in the past.  It’s a great reflection of how the people of Durham feel about the local establishments and hard working folks that make living here so wonderful. So vote for your dentist, your favorite Chinese restaurant, or any of the many other categories, fifteen in all (there are about 80 category choices), and consignment clothing is Category “C” and Number “5”.
